Design and evaluation of signaling protocols for mobility management in an integrated IP environment

چکیده
In the future mobile network, satellites will operate alongside cellular networks in order to provide seamless connectivity irrespective of the location of the user. Such a service scenario requires that the next generation of mobility management (MM) procedures are able to ensure terminal and user mobility on a global scale. This paper considers how the principles of Mobile-IP can be used to develop MM procedures for a heterogeneous access network, comprizing of satellite and cellular elements, connected to an IP core network. Initially, the system architecture is described. This is followed by a discussion of issues related to MM, where location, address and handover management are considered. A description of the signaling protocols for macro-mobility using Mobile-IP is then presented, emphasizing the need to minimize the change to the existing access network procedures. Finally, the performance of the protocols is analyzed in terms of the additional signaling time required for registration and handover. 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.

Design and evaluation of two scalable protocols for location management of mobile nodes in location based routing protocols in mobile Ad Hoc Networks
Heretofore several position-based routing protocols have been developed for mobile ad hoc networks. Many of these protocols assume that a location service is available which provides location information on the nodes in the network. Our solutions decrease location update without loss of query success rate or throughput and even increase those.Simulation results show that our methods are effectiv...

In this paper we present results, which have obtained by extensive simulations for Mobile IP and Session Initiation Protocol from the perspective of VoIP service in wireless Internet access. After illustrating the problem in these two protocols for diverse cases of mobility management, we propose an integrated model, to reduce the handover latency and packet loss during handover. This combinati...
متن کاملDesign and Performance Evaluation of a Mobility Management Protocol for Wireless ATM Networks
The introduction of ATM in wireless CPN environments (WATM) necessitates the design of mobility signaling protocols, since the existing versions of B-ISDN signaling do not support terminal mobility. These protocols can be deployed as overlay solutions that have little or no impact on existing infrastructures (switches, signaling software, etc.). In this paper, we present a WATM architecture and...
